THURSDAY 2nd APRIL 2009

Dirty Boots is delighted to announce that we have the first band to be released on DIRTY BOOTS RECORDS. Come down on Thursday 2nd April for our official launch party to see them live in action!!

rumspringa-picLos Angeles-based RUMSPRINGA draw on influences as distant and diverse as John Lee Hooker, Canned Heat, Cream and underground psychedelic pioneer Michael Yonkers. They recall the infectious feeling of blues-inflected musical rebellion and perform with the chaotic fire of a rabid witchdoctor! Much like their highly touted live shows, the original EP which is out now showcases the band’s fun, easy going, but sometimes very chaotic range. Their daring blend of genuine early rock n’ roll with the familiar catchiness of modern influences also contains hints of old school and gangsta rap. Like the Amish practice, from which they are named, of releasing teenagers to the outside world to experience the “devil’s playground,” the band’s new sound is sure to bring shock and awe to London.

They’ve also had their recent video beautifully directed by Hollywood’s very own Shia Labeouf – check the link below.

We’ve already had massive shows this year so far from Crystal Antlers, Kissy Sell Out and, of course, the hilarious Anvil show/film screenings back in February. -- so make sure you come down on  Thursday on 2nd April to help us celebrate the big year ahead.

The rest of the line up for the launch party is as strong as ever. For people in the know KURRAN AND THE WOLFNOTES have been getting us at Dirty Boots excited for a while. Now currently enjoying the heated tug of war from the rest of the industry Kurran and his gang are destined for a place in your iTunes library. If you imagine Elliot Smith on a sunny day listening to plenty of Crosby, Stills and Nash you are getting somewhere close to the superb groove laden American-style folk that these guys create.

BASTILA are first on and come to us from the wonderfully alternative Sunday Best label. Championed by Radio 1 DJ and Bestival impresario, Rob da Bank, Bastila create an eclectic mix of two tone ska and gypsy punk with the atmospherics of classic British indie rock like Radiohead and the Stone Roses. Their live show has landed them at a string of festivals so we can’t wait to see the full spectacle ourselves.
