This tour coincided with the debut UK release of Medicine (Rough Trade) so fittingly they finished their set with a killer version of the title track.  The rest of the week saw the band playing Amsterdam, Paris as well as playing support sets for Filthy Dukes and the Golden Silvers.  So an all round successful first trip and with news of a summer return I am sure we will all be seeing a lot more of this band, especially for festival season as they are made for fun loving summer crowds.  Definitely one to watch…

Starting from Friday 21st August 2009 we have a night dedicated to all you party animals. Every third Friday of the month and late into the night Dirty Boots will continue its live new music madhouse by partnering up with the newly refurbished and legendary London venue, The Garage on Holloway Road. We will have the main room and chillout bar for a late night party of exciting new live music and DJs. If you want to dance your feet raw, hang with the hipsters or just hear some completely new and awesome music, this is the stop for you!  The Garage is located at 20-22 Highbury Corner London N5 1RD.

Over the past year and a half, Dirty Boots has been fortunate enough to put on shows for a wide variety of, at the time, little known acts including: Cage The Elephant, Newton Faulkner, Dan Black, Filthy Dukes, Broken Records, The Hours, White Denim, Sound of Guns, Chipmunk, Gabriela Cilmi, Red Light Company, Golden Silvers, Kissy Sell Out, VV Brown, In Case of Fire, The Metros, Holy Ghost Revival, Crystal Antlers, Twisted Wheel, Joy Formidable, Two Door Cinema Club and many many more.

How the hell are we going to beat day 2? From Newton Faulkner showing up and packing out the tent with mass singalong, Filthy Dukes blowing everyone away, hands in the air, on a big wave of bass, Thursday was one hell of a day for DirtyBoots.

The Sunbirds got us underway – ace sunshine music that made everything from the night before melt away. Momeraths came back and were even better than yesterday – just always a pleasure to see this band. Soft Toy Emergency joined in the party at 2pm, their frontlady rocking in like a disco-drenched Natasha Khan oozing pop tunes. Check them out if you get chance. Goldheart Assembly carried on the torch of general aceness just as we’d expect…a flame kept alive for the whole afternoon by The Alfonz, Two Door Cinema Club, Alessi’s Ark and the continuously lovely Sailorette. As we hit the evening our little corner of the festival was filling up and warming up nicely - My Toys Like Me brought a little touch of electro-glamour to the proceedings, fiN got the chance to crank it up a gear after their previous acoustic set…then the rains came. Will & The People grabbed a tent full of bedraggled passers-by and turned them into a heaving, dancing mass of new fans – a packed tent danced it’s collective soggy ass right off to the indie/ska 5-piece – the first time DirtyBoots has felt like a proper dancing tent so far and we loved it. First surprise arrival of the festival was Newton Faulkner who dropped in to get 600 people singing their little hearts out and getting a very first listen to some new material from his forthcoming album.  Sound Of Guns kicked things up a notch – our first bit of speaker climbing came in here as right around the tent the mood got a bit more raucous. If it’s a late night at DirtyBoots it means Rumspinga are never far away, and the boys from LA nailed it tonight. The midnight set sucked in the wanderers and gave them a pretty awesome start to Friday morning, which got even better when Filthy Dukes rocked onto stage blew a packed and sweaty tent away, Dance Village-style. We got shedloads of bass, hands thrown in the air, even the green lasers came out. It went pretty large for a while there. Apparently the ‘proper’ festival starts tomorrow. Bring it on, we’ll be ready.
